Mercer County Community College Web site wins Award at the National Conference of Marketing and Public Relations

Princeton, New Jersey - November 12, 2003 - The National Conference of Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) recently presented a Bronze award to Mercer County Community College (MCCC) for the MCCC Web site, which was designed and developed by Princeton Internet Group. The college's Director of Marketing Lynn Holl accepted the award at a dinner in Boston on November 3. The NCMPR represents marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges throughout the northeast, eastern Canada and the U.K. PInG was retained by MCCC to assist the College with its Strategic Web Initiative (SWI), whose goal was a major redesign and functionality upgrade of the MCCC Web site. PInG coordinated Discovery Sessions with MCCC and worked with the College toward developing a fully-utilized and service-oriented Web presence that would deliver an excellent return on investment.

A "tandem" approach comprising strategic solutions and tactical solutions was recommended and implemented. Strategic solutions included (1) developing and implementing general/overall Web policies, procedures and standards, including security and procedures/mechanisms for evaluating Web site traffic, usage and feedback, (2) incorporating an intranet for internal communications and an extranet to improve business processes, and (3) hiring a full-time Webmaster and resolving current IT staffing issues based upon the resources necessary to implement the to-be-developed and adopted policies, procedures, and standards. Tactical solutions included (1) redesigning the MCCC Web site to rectify consistency problems with the "look and feel" of the Web site and inconsistent navigation throughout the site, (2) making the Web site ADA compliant, (3) providing a student portal, such as "My Mercer," (4) integrating the Web site with an existing student information system, and (5) promoting the "new" MCCC Web site to help increase traffic and usage.

The increased utilization and recognition that the site has received are a testament to the success of the initiative, and to the value that PInG brought to the project.
